MKE is committed to promoting responsible energy use and conservation. Though Korea has successfully held public campaigns to reduce consumption, energy intensity remains relatively high compared to other advanced countries.
To increase energy efficiency and reduce usage, MKE is pursuing following strategies:

Industrial Sector

  • provide financial support for companies that invest in efficiency measures, pledge to voluntary reduce consumption, and submit to energy audits.

Transportation Sector

  • promote compact and hybrid vehicles; raise fuel efficiency standards.

Construction Sector

  • implement energy-efficiency labeling programs for buildings.

Electric Appliance Sector

  • reduce standby power; implement an efficiency labeling program for products; apply minimum energy efficiency standards.

Public Sector

  • provide support for energy-saving projects conducted by regional governments.
